I am so excited to share that Sammy Says now have an iPhone and iPad app!  You must be thinking: "Pssssh! I cannot believe you are so self-indulgent that you would develop an app for your personal blog."

Hear me out, Judgey-McJudgerson.

When I am cooking or baking based on a recipe, my phone is my best companion, because who writes down a recipe this day, am I right? However, I do find that many food/recipe blogs are still not mobile-optimised. This means while my hands are covered in flour or meat juices, I'll have to do that "pinching" motion on my iPhone to make the text bigger, or squint into my phone to see the recipe. When I see a recipe or dishes I'd like to experiment, I would save the link in my reading list on Safari, or as a Facebook chat conversation to myself. This means I have recipes everywhere and oftentimes, I forget where they are and it's back to Google once again.

There has to be a better way.

So, when the kind people at Boom emailed me with a proposal to develop my own app, it was a lightbulb moment. Thanks to the partnership with them, the app is available to download for free in the iTunes store (Sorry, Android users!)

That way, we can now access the recipes I posted in a mobile-optimised environment. When you open the app, you can easily hit the Search icon and get the recipe straightaway, or you can browse the latest content at your leisure. It is also really easy to bookmark a post within the app, so you can come back to it later, or share the link on your social media feed.

Doesn't it cost money to develop an app? Why is the app offered for free?

The cost of developing the app will be covered by the inclusion of "native placements" (posts marked as "Sponsored") via the Boom advertising network. The native placements are really subtle. If the products and services are interesting to you, just click on the headline to read the full article, just like you would with any of my content. There are no annoying pop ups or flash banners, so the choice to consume or not is totally up to you.

If you have any feedback on the app, feel free to leave a comment. If you think this app is interesting for others, feel free to spread the message and rate it on the iTunes app download page.
